A little of our latest happenings

We did pony tails without bangs. I think I prefer them with bangs. Her hair is getting so long now!
She only takes one nap a day now and it is right after lunch. Unfortunately this time she didn't make it. She fell asleep while she was eating lunch and even stayed asleep while I changed her diaper!

She loves to try to put on our shoes. She has a hard time with mine (because my shoes are barely bigger than hers:) but does well with Cole's.

Crafts
I've been making a few crafts lately. I really love doing them and am so glad Cole supports me by letting me do them. I wish I came up with the ideas on my own but usually I get them from craft sites or friends.
I made this Valentine wreath. I got the general idea from other craft blogs but did it a little different. It took forever to make all the flowers! I used all leftover supplies and am glad it turned out. Cole cut the foam for me from scraps he had.

I made my Aunts these for their birthdays. I got the idea from somewhatsimple.blogspot.com My Aunts are always so good to remember me on my special occasions and I wanted to finally do something for them. I hope they like them!

Of course I made another bib! It is actually one of my favorites. I found myself getting extra frustrated when Lexi made a mess eating because I didn't want her to ruin it. Sometimes it is hard to remember bibs aren't just for fashion purposes:)

I made this crayon holder for Lexi because she tore the box. I really like the fabric I used for it. She is starting to really like to color. I think I got the idea for this from make it and love it.

15 months old

Lexi is 15 months old. We went in for her check-up today and are so excited to report we can finally change to a front facing car seat. She weighed 20lbs 10 oz (18%) and she was 31 inches tall(67%). What a life to be long and lean. Lexi is changing a lot and learning new things each day. Here are a few of her "tricks" and loves

  • Knows what the dog and pig say
  • Identifies her nose, ears, and button
  • Asks "what's that?"
  • Tries to dress herself and put our shoes on
  • Climbs on everything
  • Hates organization and empties out every cupboard she sees
  • Can say mama, dada, baba, dog, ball, shoes, hi
  • Pretends everything is a phone and says, "Hi" while she pretends. She also loves to talk on my phone and tell people Hi.
  • Loves books and reads everytime we're in the car
  • Loves it when Dada comes home
  • Loves furniture that is her size
  • Puts herself to sleep at night

This is the face she does when you ask her what the pig says. She snorts while making the face. It's also her angry face.

The Price...

I often go through an internal battle. I have to ask myself what is the price I am going to have to pay to get something done? Am I willing to pay that price?

This was the price I paid for doing my hair this morning... Yes it was worth it and she was in heaven.

Snowed In

Wow, what a storm! We have received about 4 feet of snow over the last few days. Poor Cole has had to snowblow our driveway every two hours and rake our roof several times. Cole's work, W.L. Gore closed down for two days due to the storm. They have only shut down twice in the last 20 years so that tells you how bad this storm was. The interstates were all closed for a few days and we were snowed in! I've heard several businesses in town had their roofs cave in as well. Luckily we knew the storm was coming so we prepared with lots of food and such. We were also lucky our power only went out once and for a very short time. I loved the storm because Cole got to stay home. I was in heaven having him around and so was Lexi. We also did some fun things with various neighbors and enjoyed that. Above our second story window gives you an idea of the amount of snow we got because we never shoveled that part off. Also, on the left side of our house we have a pine tree...I promise we really do even though all you can see is the very top of it. Thank you to everyone who called to check in on us. It's nice to know that even though we are so far away there are such kind people that love us!

Sledding

Cole's brother Taylor and his two kids came up from Phoenix last weekend to play in the snow (yes there is a place in Arizona that gets snow and isn't 100 degrees year round:) They got here in the evening and ran straight outside to go play in the snow and had a blast. The next day we went sledding and had a good time.

For fun I did Lexi's hair in a side ponytail. I thought it was pretty funny. I love how she posed in this picture. It wasn't even on purpose. She was just playing and I had her turn around and this is what I got. Don't you love the purple socks with the pink clothes.
I also put her in the most "babyish" clothes I had that still fit her. The onesie has sheep on it. I guess you could say I was having one of those denial days. Sometimes I just want her to stay little. She's getting so grown-up. Each day she surprises me with new things she can do. She's getting quite a few teeth now. The other day I felt a little like a bad Mom because I realized she had three new teeth poking through on the top and I hadn't even realized it. She's been really good so I didn't even realize she was teething.

Blowers, Blood and Buttercup

Lexi had so much fun watching Cole snowblow our backyard (we have to do it to stop animals from burrowing in our grass). She kept waving at him and saying hi to him. I would knock on the window to get his attention so he'd wave back. Pretty soon Lexi started knocking too. It was really cute.

Lexi got her first bloody lip today. She fell on top of a plastic pitcher she was playing with. She was really brave and only cried for a second.

I finished my buttercup purse. I love the fabric I used. I want to get more of it to make a skirt (too bad it's from Utah). I got the free tutorial from madebyrae.blogspot.com. It was really easy and fun to make.

On a side note Lexi is really into dogs right now. Last week she started saying dog and now everytime she hears a noise she starts to bark and say dog. Every animal is a dog and barks. When she hears the train horn she thinks it's a dog and she starts barking. It's really funny. Our neighbors have a dog so everytime they bark she does too. I won't even realize the dogs are barking until I hear Lexi bark. She's so observant right now.

Craft Corner

I got this cute fabric in Utah to make this reversible bib. I really like it. I used a different clasp this time in hopes that Lexi won't be able to rip it off. She's really into doing that right now and it is a little frustrating. I got to use my new cutting mat and cutter and I love it!

I didn't have enough decorations for our entertainment center so I made these. Cole cut the wood from our scraps and routed the edges for me. I designed them and accessorized them. It was a really fun project and I like the way they turned out. We used a spray adhesive this time and it worked so much better than mod podge.

I made this apron for my mother in-law for Christmas. It looks a lot better on someone than on the floor.
