Labor Day Weekend

We had so much fun in Marysvale with my parents and brother's family. We all stayed in a cute little cabin. We got to ride the 4 wheelers and really enjoyed the fact that they were street legal there. Some of us even rode them to church. I got to go jet skiing for the first time and loved it. Lexi enjoyed playing with her cousins. It was a really fun trip. Thanks for inviting us!

10 Months Old

Lexi is over 10 months old now. She is so much fun. She's developed a social laugh and laughs at herself all the time now.

She's got skill!

Lexi gets her "skills" from her daddy. Watch and see...I love it when she dances. It is so funny. Yesterday when we walked into church and she heard the prelude music she started dancing.

North Carolina

We went to North Carolina for our Cole's family reunion. It was fun and great to see everyone. The trip started with us driving to Phoenix to spend the night at Taylor's house. Cole and I got to go do initiatories at the Mesa temple while Ariel watched Lexi. It was so good to go to the temple. I almost didn't get to go because I forgot my recommend but they got in touch with my Stake leadership. Thank you Ariel for watching Lexi!

The next day we flew to NC. It was a long day. Our trip consisted of a lot of beach time, Wright brothers museum, lighthouse tour, shopping, and trying Thai food. I'll be honest. The trip also consisted of a lot of long nights too. Lexi got sick the first day we were there and spent a lot of nights sleeping in our bed snuggled up to me. It got so bad that one night when she woke up crying we had to take her outside on a walk so she wouldn't wake everyone else up. I'm learning that a vacation once you are a Mom isn't really a vacation if you know what I mean. I loved having Cole around for an entire week. When we got home me and Lexi missed him a lot. Cole got to try out his skim boards he made and they did great. Our camera got eaten up by a wave at the end of our trip so I don't have very good pictures but I made a little video of the ones I had. Thank you to everyone who helped cook, clean, babysit, and entertain us. I know a lot of people sacrificed a lot so we could have this reunion and it is greatly appreciated. We will cherish the memories.

Good Times

I ran across these pictures from when Cole and I were dating and engaged. They bring back really fun memories. When we were dating I took Cole to see the gyroplanes. He loved it and says that it is one of the things that made him fall in love with me.

Part of my test to see if I was marriage material was when Cole took me to see this bug. He wanted to buy it and wanted to see my reaction. I guess my reaction was good enough. He bought it and we had it for the first two years of our marriage. I never drove it because it was a stick shift. It was really hard for Cole to sell it but someday he'll get another one.

Cole took me to his mission reunion in St. George when we were dating. Little did I know that the day we got back we would decide we were going to get married.

This is a picture we took the day our letter came from the Mt. Timpanogos temple verifying our sealing date and time. You can tell how excited Cole was.

Update

Lexi during dinner time

Her arms are finally long enough to do this. Doesn't she look like a ballerina!

We see this face a lot lately.

We went to some more Indian ruins about an hour away

Taking a nap in the usual position

Too Cute!

For FHE we went to the rope swing by our house. I was surprised at how big it is.

Just Thinking

Lately I've been thinking about being content. I have something I really want. I've been wanting it for over two years now. Normally I am okay without it but sometimes I want it so much I get really sad about it. Well, I started to realize how ungrateful I was being. In reality this thing I want is the only thing I really want that I don't have. All my life my main wants have been to get married (check), have children (check), and be a stay at home mom (check). I am so blessed to have those things. I know so many people that want those things and haven't been blessed to have them. I don't know why some people get certain blessings in this life and others have to wait until the next life.

So why is it that I can't be grateful and content with what I have? Each time I get the thing I want I am momentarily happy. Then I come up with something new I want and am no longer content with what I have. Don't get me wrong. I think it is great to aspire to have more than you already have but it is only okay under certain conditions. I need to recognize my current blessings and hope for more but be content with what I've been given. Just like the song says "Count your many blessings name then one by one and it will surprise you what the Lord has done." When I take the time to reflect on the many things Heavenly Father has blessed me with I am amazed at his kindness and generosity.

And so I am content...more than that I am grateful and happy. Maybe someday I will get the thing I want. That would be great if I did. But if I don't it will be okay. I've followed the path Heavenly Father has chosen for me and so far that's worked out really well. I know that if I continue to do so he will watch out for me. He will bless me with the things I need. I know it is important to try to make my wants his wants. I'm grateful to know I can trust in him.
